‘Behind the Headlines’: Primary results, Utah coal setback and a brutal murder (7/1/16)

Gov. Gary Herbert crushes challenger Jonathan Johnson in the Republican primary. Democratic Senate nominee Misty K. Snow makes history by defeating Jonathan Swinton to run against GOP Sen. Mike Lee. The Oakland City Council votes to keep Utah coal from passing through a new deep-water port. And a father and son from Utah are charged with the murder of a transit worker.

On Friday at 9 a.m., Salt Lake Tribune reporters Matt Canham, Robert Gehrke and Jessica Miller as well as editorial cartoonist Pat Bagley and health, education and environment editor Rachel Piper join Roger McDonough to talk about the week’s top stories.

Each Friday morning, stream “Behind the Headlines” on or tune in to KCPW or Utah Public Radio for the broadcast.
