Today we speak with Susie Marvin about the Seeds of Success program, a new initiative by Wasatch Community Gardens that aims to help low-income mothers through gardening. Also, a conversation with Salt Lake City forester Tony Gliot about the city’s database of 86,000 trees, and about what it takes to maintain our urban forest. And an audio postcard from the historic Artesian Well Park that will soon get a needed facelift.

Note: In the final segment of this episode, various interviewees stated their belief that the spring water at the Artesian Well Park does not contain fluoride. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), most water has some fluoride and analysis by Salt Lake City shows that the water at the well does contain fluoride at .166 milligrams per liter. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recommends a level of .7 milligrams per liter. The majority of Salt Lake County has an adjusted fluoride level of .7 milligrams per liter.
