Mayor Jackie Biskupski on her decision to sue over the Utah Inland Port

Play

We’re featuring a conversation with Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski about her decision to sue over the Utah Inland Port. Biskupski says that the law that came out of last year’s legislative session creating the project usurped city land and future tax revenue and that it was unconstitutional.

In addition to a conversation with the mayor, we’ll also hear from journalist Matthew Piper who has written about the so-called “ripper clause,” a single sentence in Utah’s constitution that is meant to protect cities and towns from having their municipal or taxing functions stripped away by the legislature – which is the basis for the mayor’s suit.
