
(KCPW News) A familiar face will serve as interim president of the University of Utah when Michael Young departs to become president of the University of Washington.
Dr. Lorris Betz, who was also interim president of the U. in 2003 and 2004, will once again serve in that capacity. He had previously planned to retire this summer.
Betz is also Senior Vice President for Health Sciences, Executive Dean of the School of Medicine and CEO of University of Utah Health Care. His new appointment will be effective Monday, May 16th.
The State Board of Regents also announced today that Regent Nolan Karras will lead the search committee for a new, permanent U of U President.
