(KCPW News) Former Utah Governor Jon Huntsman will make a stop in his home state tomorrow. But his visit was preceded by a public appearance from another presidential contender with Utah ties: Mitt Romney. Romney and his wife spoke with hundreds outside Salt Lake City’s Hires Big H Drive-In on Friday, when he addressed economic policy and slammed President Obama.

“I’m excited and anxious to get America growing again to put people back to work,” he told the crowd. “To let people have the income so they know that they will have the income to put food on the table at the end of the week. Gasoline is too expensive. Food is too expensive. Too many people are out of work and there is nothing to be proud of in Barack Obama’s economic policies. It has not worked. My policy is to get Americans back to work.”

Following his speech, Romney met with small business owners and some Utah political leaders, including Attorney General Mark Shurtleff, over burgers and fries.

Mark Hale, co-owner of Hires Big H, says Romney was a regular during his time in Utah. He thought it was a fitting place for the candidate to discuss small business matters.

“Hires Big H represents small business. America is built on small business,” Hale said. There is probably more small business in the country then any where else in the world and therefore it is just a natural. And what is more American than hamburgers and fries and shakes and root beer?”

Romney also attended private fundraisers in Orem and Salt Lake City during his stop.
