(KCPW News) The city of South Jordan ushered in a new Mayor Tuesday night. The council voted unanimously to select area businessman Scott Osborne to replace former Mayor Kent Money, who stepped down to accept an assignment from the LDS Church in New Zealand. Osborne, who was one of 19 applicants, says he was chosen in part because he brings a strong business background.

“It gives us an opportunity to look from the outside,” he says. “I have not previously been involved politically in the city and I think it just brings a fresh view.”

Osborne says there’s no need for a major course correction in South Jordan.

He says excellent plans have been laid, but there are a number of opportunities that will require some effort and vision.

“Some of the vision that we need to focus in on would be part of the transit-oriented development of the new Frontrunner station that has been announced, working with the continuation build-out of the Daybreak area and the potential that exists therein. and also working with and participating with the new Mountain View Corridor,” Osborne tells KCPW.

Osborne’s company, Osborne’s Engineering Supply, sells architectural equipment and supplies. He also co-founded Vision Perfect Software, which manufactures software for the golf industry.
