
(KCPW News) Constitutional lawyer Merrill Nelson is looking to make a comeback to the Utah Legislature. After serving in the early 1990s, he’s running again to represent Tooele County. And his campaign has picked up major steam after he defeated the incumbent in last week’s primary, Republican Bill Wright, known for sponsoring controversial bills on sex education and immigration. Nelson joined us to discuss why he’s running, his thoughts on strengthening education and making Utah’s initiative process more accessible to the public.

Then, after a bid for the U.S. Senate in 2010, Democrat Sam Granato has his sights set on the Salt Lake County Council. He’s running for District 4 on the valley’s east side. We talked about important issues like SkiLink and incorporation.
