
(KCPW News) She’s been a fugitive, baseball player and President of the United States… all on screen. Now, Oscar-winning actress Geena Davis is coming to Salt Lake City to throw out the first pitch at the Salt Lake Bees game this Friday, marking the 20th anniversary of the film “A League of Their Own,” which tells the story of women who stepped up to the plate during World War II. KCPW’s Jeff Robinson spoke with Davis about why it’s important to remember the contributions these women made to baseball.
Actress Geena Davis will throw out the first pitch this Friday at the Salt Lake Bees game, marking the 20th anniversary of the film “A League of Their Own.” The film will be screened for free by Zions Bank and the Utah Film Center following the game. Her appearance will also recognize players from the Utah Shamrocks fast-pitch women’s softball team from the 1940s and 50s.
