
(KCPW News) Progressive public policy is the goal of Democratic State Representative Rebecca Chavez-Houck. The Salt Lake City lawmaker has served in the legislature since 2008, contributing significantly in the debates over LGBT rights, immigration, social justice and ballot issues. Recently, she’s been serving on the Utah Commission on Immigration and Migration. We talked with her about how the immigration debate appears to be changing in the state, and what’s on the mind of her constituents.
Then, at the recent Outdoor Retailer Summer Market, outdoor groups sent a loud message to Utah Governor Gary Herbert, telling him he’s wrong on public lands and conservation issues. You recently heard Black Diamond Equipment CEO Peter Metcalf echo that sentiment on this program, and today, we got a response from Alan Matheson, the governor’s senior environmental adviser.
