Segment 1:
Salt Lake City attorney Mark Alvarez has weighed in on the immigration debate and immigration policy for years. He says what’s often missing from the discussion is the individual stories from immigrants themselves. On Wednesday, Alvarez joins us to discuss the immigration challenge and what it means to be American.
Guest:
- Mark Alvarez
Mark Alvarez will deliver the lecture “American Hybrid: Stories of Immigration” Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1:45 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Main Library, 210 E. 400 S., Salt Lake City. It’s sponsored by the Forum for Questioning Minds and it’s free and open to the public
Segment 2:
The Fortune 500 firms often grab the headlines, but the fact is that half of American workers work at small businesses and that small businesses create 75 percent of the net new jobs in the U.S. economy. A program aimed at supporting small businesses is underway at Salt Lake Community College and on Wednesday, we’ll hear more about the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses program.
