CityViews 10/4/12: Designing the Utah Performing Arts Center/The State of Utah Nonprofits




Segment 1:

The Utah Performing Arts Center is emerging as a centerpiece of a vibrant downtown Salt Lake City. So what will the venue look like? City leaders are asking the public to weigh in during the design phase and on Thursday, we’ll hear about the vision for the UPAC structure.

Salt Lake City is seeking public comment on the new Utah Performing Arts Center at a workshop with city officials and architects. The workshop will be held Thursday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Salt Lake City Main Library, 4th floor conference room, 210 E. 400 South, Salt Lake City. Utah nonprofits took a beating from the Great Recession and as a result, the nonprofit sector shrunk over 30 percent. That’s the conclusion of a report by The Community Foundation of Utah. On Thursday, we’ll learn about the state of Utah’s nonprofit community and lessons from the economic downturn for charities and philanthropy.
