(KCPW News) It’s been weeks since an LGBT non-discrimination bill gasped its last breath in the Utah legislature. Ultimately, the Senate Republican caucus decided the bill was too risky to hear while the state was attempting to defend its same-sex marriage ban in a federal appeals court.
But for many people, including the LGBT community and many of its allies, the issue never went away. On Wednesday night, Republican Sen. Steve Urquhart, the sponsor of SB 100, and Democratic Sen. Jim Dabakis, who is openly gay, hosted a meeting of LGBT individuals and Utah political figures, including Senate President Wayne Niederhauser and Lt. Governor Spencer Cox.
