
(KCPW News) In terms of female elected officeholders, Utah has one of the lowest participation rates in the country. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, Utah’s lawmaking body ranked 46th in the country in female representation, with women comprising of just 16.3%.
But after this year’s election, that percentage could drop even lower. Five of Utah’s 17 female legislators will not be running for reelection this year, including House Speaker Becky Lockhart.
