The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour: Latin America Rising

IMG_2259The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour (Air date: September 17, 2014) – Clifton Ross and Marcy Rein are the authors of Until the Rulers Obey: Voices from Latin American Social Movements, (Jan. 2014).   Their book features interviews with “Pink Tide” movement participants who share their experiences of resistance that was widely seen as a rejection of western-style extractive capitalism and globalization.  This social transformation involved grassroots social movements like the Zapatistas in Chiapas, the Brazilian landless workers, and the Argentinian Piqueteros, to name a few.  It also involved marginalized groups in Latin American society, like landless campesinos, women, indigenous communities, students, LGBT people, and the unemployed.  Ross and Rein spoke at the Hinckley Institute of Politics on September 9, 2014.
