The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour

Sports and Sexual Assault

Play

The Hinckley Institute Radio Hour  April is designated as Sexual Assault Awareness month, and as part of that, we feature a forum today that takes a look at how athletics intersects with sexual assault.

Whether it is student athletics within colleges or high schools; or professional athletics within national leagues, or the Olympics – there are sexual assault survivors and perpetrators on all different levels. From coaches, teammates, to sports medicine doctors.

Speaking on the panel: Jessica Miller, Legal Affairs Reporter for The Salt Lake Tribune; Nona Richardson, Deputy Title IX Coordinator and Senior Associate Athletic Director at the University of Utah; Brian Burton, Dean of Students Office at the University of Utah; Brian Nicholls who works in the Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action; Moderating the discussion is Robert Payne, who works in the Office of General Counsel also at the University of Utah.

Today’s forum was recorded on March 18th, 2019.
