Today on the program, two vastly different perspectives on the planned Utah Inland Port. The project is the subject of litigation, with Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski challenging the legislation that launched the port and shifted land use and taxing authority from the city to the state. This past week that lawsuit was amended to include new objections, and to ask for an injunction to halt development while the suit plays out.
But the struggle over who controls the project isn’t its only contentious feature. There’s a fundamental divide between the environmental community and port proponents that has as much to do with clashing worldviews as with anything else.
