Play

Three stunning documentaries, two award-winning films, in one episode on day eight. From Latinx filmmakers Cristiina Costantini and Kareem Tabsch, learn about Puerto Rican astrologer, psychic, and all around amazing human being, Walter Mercado, who televised horoscopes for 30 years, in MUCHO MUCHO AMOR. We speak to filmmakers Bradford Thomason and Brett Whitcomb about their Slamdance film, JASPER MALL. Then switch gears to speak with director Jerry Rothwell and subject David Mitchell about the documentary, THE REASON I JUMP. This Audience Award winner is an immersive experience of nonspeaking autistic people worldwide based on the book by 13-year old Naoki Higashida. We finish it off with another award winner, CHARM CITY KINGS. Filmmaker Angel Manuel Soto joins producer Caleeb Pinkett and the cast (Jahi Di’Allo Winston, Kezii Curtis, Donielle Tremaine Hansley) in a conversation about the narrative feature that won the Sundance Special Jury Award for Ensemble Cast. And hey, it’s also inspired by the dirt bike culture that can be seen in the documentary 12 O’Clock Boys.
