Today on “In the Hive” we look at the wildfires that have been devastating the Western United States this summer. More than 4.7 million acres have burned in ten states. At least 34 people have now died in the fires raging in California, Oregon and Washington. Climate scientist Peter Gleick says there’s a clear link between these blazes and the changes to the planet’s climate caused by the burning of fossil fuels. Drought and higher temperatures in the West have made this fire season especially bad, and Gleick says we should expect it to get worse.
