On Wednesday, Utah registered its highest single-day number of coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic — more than 7,200 cases.

Soon after those numbers were released, State Epidemiologist Dr. Leisha Nolen jumped on a Zoom call to answer questions from Utah media. No surprise, Dr. Nolen said that the fast spreading Omicron variant is to blame.

Today on In the Hive, we’re airing that full press conference, in which Dr. Nolen answered questions from reporters about Omicron, testing, mask-wearing, vaccination, boosters, and ultimately about this latest unwelcome pandemic milestone and what it means for the weeks and months ahead.

Guests:
Dr. Leisha Nolen, State Epidemiologist, Utah Dept. of Health
Tom Hudachko, Communications Director, Utah Dept. of Health
