Play

Both Sides of the Aisle – Natalie Gochnour is joined on The Right by Sen. Dan McCay, R-Riverton, and on The Left by Shireen Ghorbani, former Salt Lake County Council member. They discuss the United States rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines, the article of impeachment moving to the Senate, Sen. Romney’s plan to memorialize the January 6th insurrection, the confirmation of President Biden’s nominees for federal office and the new administration’s work on climate issues. They also discuss the Utah Capitol opening to the public, the tone struck by our political leaders in recent speeches and legislation changing concealed carry law, restricting party switching and preventing more national monuments in Utah.

Clarification: At the end of this episode, Sen. Dan McCay references the Ute Indian Tribe’s opposition to the Biden administration’s Jan. 20 secretarial order for a 60-day freeze on new oil and gas leasing and permitting on federal lands. The Biden administration issued a clarification and exempted tribal entities in the corresponding Jan. 27 executive order.
