87Ed Sweeney, Esq., President and CEO

Ed is President and founder of Wasatch Public Media. Ed has been an active member of the Utah State Bar for 32 years. Ed practiced law for ten years prior to joining Westminster College of Salt Lake City as General Counsel and Vice President of Development. He has worked as an executive in a national fund-raising consulting firm as well as founding his own Utah based fund-raising firm in 1993. Ed has been involved with KCPW since it went on the air in 1993 as a consultant, donor and volunteer. Ed graduated from Westminster with a BA in Behavioral Science and received his JD from Santa Clara University.

 

Jesse Ellis, Operations Director

Jesse is currently the Operations Director at KCPW. This Louisiana native moved west to attend the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences in Tempe, AZ. After graduation, he took a position in a high-end recording studio in Los Angeles and has been recording in and out of the studio ever since then. Now that Jesse has moved to Salt Lake, in addition to KCPW,  he has been working with several local bands, as well as playing in a few. Jesse has been with KCPW since 2007.

 

Tyler Ford, Underwriting and Production Director

Tyler is the Underwriting and Production Director for KCPW. His prior work experience includes managing databases for the Sundance Film Festival as well as acting as a stage manager for the Salt Lake City Arts Council’s Twilight Concert Series and Living Traditions Festival. Tyler’s hair is incredibly long, and his mother once mistook him for a vagrant. Tyler has played in local bands since 2003 and received a B.A. in Film Theory and Criticism from the University of Utah. Tyler has been a KCPW listener since 2004.

 

shelleyShelley Carpenter, Development Director

Secretary for the Friends of KCPW since 2009, Shelley remains honored to serve as the station’s Development Director.  Shelley has a background in technical theater and management, an A.S. from SLCC and is currently pursuing a degree in Economics  at the University of Utah. She is committed to contributing to this community by strengthening the stations’ current relationships and seeking out new ways to reach people. Roger McDonough, News Director, Host

Roger McDonough was born and raised in Salt Lake City, but has lived in Argentina, Bolivia, Virginia, New Jersey and Southern California. He holds an MA in Public Policy and Development Management from Georgetown University, a parallel degree from the Universidad Nacional de San Martín (Argentina), and a BA in English from the University of Utah. A practiced freelance print and radio journalist, Roger joined our news team after several years in the nonprofit world. He previously contributed to KCPW with an award-winning local history segment that was developed in partnership with the Salt Lake City Public Library, where he worked for nine years. Roger says he is drawn to public radio because he’s an auditory learner, and calls radio “the best medium in the world.” He is currently the host KCPW’s daily news show, The Rundown.  Email him in English or Spanish at rmcdonough@kcpw.org.

 

Ryan Cunningham, Reporter, Social Media Manager

Ryan Cunningham started reporting for KCPW in 2013. Previously, Ryan worked for Utah Public Radio based out of Logan. In 2012, he earned his B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies at Utah State University, emphasizing journalism, English, and Dutch language and culture in his coursework. Ryan is originally from Valparaiso, Indiana, a small town one hour southeast of Chicago.
