Our Community Calendar is a volunteer-run resource offered to all qualified nonprofits. Community Calendar events are highlighted live, on-air throughout the day on KCPW. Featured events are chosen at random. You will also find all current Community Calendar events listed here at kcpw.org.
The Community Calendar also has a physical home. Following the criteria listed below, mail or bring professional materials (no handwritten signs please) promoting your event to the KCPW studios at 210 East 400 South, Suite 10, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. We’ll happily hang them in our window for all Library Square traffic to see.
To submit an event to the Community Calendar, the event must meet the following criteria:
- The event must take place in Utah.
- The organization promoting the event must be a qualified 501(c)(3) charity or political subdivision.
- The event cannot promote a religious organization or individual.
If your event meets these criteria, click “Post Your Event” below. Include your contact information in case we have any questions. Otherwise, your event may not get published.
We encourage you to make the most of your post by adding a featured image and links to your organization. Utilize the provided field boxes (i.e. location, ticket information) to display information as accurately and quickly as possible.
Please do not submit duplicate postings for the same event. If you are posting a class or workshop that requires registration, list just the first instance in the date and time, and include the details for subsequent classes in the description.

The Utah Symphony’s Summer Community Concerts continue with associate conductor Benjamin Manis leading a program filled with music from Latin America’s great symphonic composers including Moncayo’s Huapango, Ginastera’s Dances from Estancia, and Márquez’ Danzón No. 2. Also, hear the Utah Symphony perform Carlos Simon’s Tales: A folklore symphony, which explores African American folklore as well as Afrofuturists stories.

When one thinks of South Los Angeles, what comes to mind is gangs, drugs, liquor stores, abandoned buildings and vacant lots. The last thing that you would expect to find is a beautiful garden sprouting up through the concrete, coloring the urban landscape. As part of an urban gardening movement taking root in South LA, people are planting to transform their neighborhoods and are changing their own lives in the process. Calling for people to put down their guns and pick up their shovels, these “gangster gardeners” are creating an oasis in the middle of one of the most notoriously dangerous places in America.

Troublemakers unearths the history of land art in the tumultuous late 1960s and early 1970s. The film features a cadre of renegade New York artists that sought to transcend the limitations of painting and sculpture by producing earthworks on a monumental scale in the desolate desert spaces of the American southwest. Today these works remain impressive not only for the sheer audacity of their makers but also for their out-sized ambitions to break free from traditional norms. As the film makes clear, in making works that can never be possessed as an object in a gallery, these troublemakers stand in marked contrast to the hyper-speculative contemporary art world of today.

In his acclaimed debut as a filmmaker, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson presents a powerful and transporting documentary—part music film, part historical record created around an epic event that celebrated Black history, culture and fashion. Filmed over the course of six weeks in the summer of 1969, just one hundred miles south of Woodstock, the footage was largely forgotten–until now. Summer of Soul shines a light on the importance of history to our spiritual well-being and stands as a testament to the healing power of music during times of unrest, both past and present.
