(KCPW News) “It seems the spin machine could be turned down a notch or two.” That’s what Republican State Senator Steve Urquhart wrote on his blog, following Governor Gary Herbert’s standoff with the legislature over two bills that he vetoed, SB 229 and HB 328. His vetoes on both bills, which deal with transportation funding and moving the state back to a five-day workweek, were overridden by lawmakers over the weekend, leading the governor to justify his decision to reject the bills. KCPW’s Jeff Robinson asked Senator Urquhart if he believes the governor’s office is saying one thing to the legislature, and a completely different thing to the general public.
