Imagine skimming the daily paper to find a news article written by a well-known local politician, like the mayor. That’s exactly what you’ll find in the Deseret News, where West Valley City Mayor and Salt Lake County Mayor hopeful Mike Winder will now contribute news articles relating to West Valley City. As KCPW’s Whittney Evans reports, Salt Lake County Democrats aren’t happy about his new platform.

Big deal…Deseret News can do whatever they want. Come on County Dems. Save your breath. Find issues that matter.

Come on. If anything, it sounds like the Democrats are against transparency. Our elected officials should be communicating more – not less. Mayor Winder represents the second largest city in the state – certainly there is going to be interest in what he writes about.

This biggest problem for me with this story is the complete bias the reporter shows by not fully researching this issue. SL County Mayor Peter Corroon writes a monthly column in the South Valley Journal. He did not suspend his column during his most recent election bid for Governor, did he? Where is the Democrat outrage there? KCPW’s Ms. Evan’s is not offering a fair or balanced look at this issue. A little research would have helped. The editors at this station owe Mayor Winder an apology. This is a non-issue.
