Midfielder Megan Rapinoe figures to be a major part of the U.S. national team in the coming years. She’s already won a gold medal at the 2012 Olympics and helped the U.S. finish second in the 2011 World Cup. But while she’s become a leader on the field, Rapinoe has also become a leading voice in the LGBT rights movement as an openly gay athlete.
Ahead of her team’s match in Utah, KCPW’s Ryan Cunningham spoke with Rapinoe over the phone about LGBT issues, the state of women’s soccer, and more. That interview, your top local headlines, and Political Cornflakes—all on this episode of The Rundown.
