Coronavirus outbreak at a Utah meatpacking plant and deaths at the Salt Lake County jail

Meatpacking employees and their supporters marched Tuesday in Logan demanding that a company close its Hyrum plant for cleaning and that workers be paid while they grapple with a coronavirus outbreak, affecting 287 workers at the facility.

After receiving a false negative test result for COVID-19 earlier this week, former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman said he received a positive diagnosis Wednesday.

And, in the last several years, neglect or substandard care in the Salt Lake County Jail has led to inmate deaths or serious injuries that families say could have been prevented if jail staff had paid attention or had taken their concerns seriously.
