Both Sides of the Aisle

The political home of The Left

Both Sides of the Aisle – Natalie Gochnour is joined on The Right by Sen. Dan McCay, R-Riverton, and on The Left by Shireen Ghorbani, former Salt Lake County Council member. As a change of pace, this week, the program will be taking a deeper look at the political home of The Left. They discuss early political influences, The Left’s approach to the minimum wage, The Right’s view of The Left and how the left-wing can be improved in the U.S.

With all due respect, the ideas expressed in this episode show how very narrow the boundaries of debate have become. The public imagination of what’s possible is trapped in an endless loop of old ideas conceived of by dead white men. Why should we be ruled by the dead? I thought this country valued innovation and creativity and free thought? If we can’t think beyond capitalism and state socialism we are not free.
