Dan talked about how the ‘voting rights act’ is federal overreach, and Shireen essentially responded, ‘voting is too important to leave it in states hands’ without addressing the idea of overreach. I think it’s a red flag to want overreach justified without addressing the legality or constitutionality of said overreach. Everyone thinks their exception is important enough to bend or break rules, and in my opinion dodging criticism that big is a sign that they aren’t trying to appeal to everyone, just to those they already agree with.
