Some Struggle at Farmers Market Due to Bad Spring Weather

An annual tradition continued on Saturday in Pioneer Park as thousands packed into downtown Salt Lake City to kick off the largest Farmers Market in its 19 year history. Local bakeries, vendors and artisans were out in full force, but KCPW’s Jessica Gail talked with a few farmers who aren’t able to do as much business as they’d like, thanks to the weather.

Outdoor Retailer Sponsor Feels Slighted by State Leadership

The Outdoor Industry Association isn’t happy about Governor Gary Herbert’s pushback on wild lands preservation. The association sponsors the Outdoor Retailer Market, which is held in Salt Lake City twice a year, boosting the state and local economies by millions of dollars. But as KCPW’s Whittney Evans reports, it’s not ruling out other locations as long as Utah leaders are unsupportive of their causes.

Mayor Hopes to Find Support for Parks, Trails Bond

Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon is hoping you’ll support a new bond measure for the county’s parks and trails this fall, which would mean a property tax hike. But first, he’ll have to get the Republican-controlled County Council to agree to put it on the ballot, an effort that begins at Tuesday’s council meeting. KCPW’s Jeff Robinson asked him how large the bond is, and what it would go toward.

Snowbirds “Mountain Coaster” Stirs Controversy

Dogs Expand Outdoor Retailer Market

Downtown Salt Lake City was clearing out Monday after this weekend’s largest ever Outdoor Retailer Winter Market at the Salt Palace. 18,000 manufacturers and store buyers gathered to look at innovative products, many of which will be out in stores by next winter. And as KCPW’s Jessica Gail reports, some of this year’s most successful booths at the expo…were those reaching out to a four-legged demographic.
