Salt Lake County Adds New Paint, Signs for Cyclists

Salt Lake County is making it easier for cyclists to get around. As KCPW’s Whittney Evans reports, Mayor Peter Corroon and the county’s transportation department laid the groundwork this morning for new bicycle route signs and roadway paint to connect cyclists to major routes and popular destinations in the unincorporated county.

Salt Lake City Considers Extending Parking Enforcement, Charging More

Salt Lake City’s push to charge more for metered parking and extend hours of enforcement is sure to face opposition, but the city and at least one local restaurateur says logically, it’s a good call. Mayor Ralph Becker’s 2013 budget proposal extends the hours of parking enforcement from 6 to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, and includes a 50-cent hourly hike on metered parking.

New Airport to be Built in Salt Lake City

“Sugar Hole” Project Moves Forward With Help From Salt Lake City

An area of Salt Lake City scornfully referred to by many residents as the “Sugar hole” will finally get the facelift it was intended to have before the economy took a nosedive. Mecham Management is moving forward with a $53 million retail and residential project with the help of a loan the Salt Lake City Council approved on Tuesday, acting as the Redevelopment Agency. But as KCPW’s Whittney Evans reports, bitterness still lingers over the demolition of historic buildings that made way for the venture.

City Council Hears Public Comment on Wal-Mart Rezone

Salt Lake County Council to Vote on Hiring a Consultant for Convention Hotel

A vote at today’s Salt Lake County Council meeting could add momentum to an effort to put a convention center hotel in downtown Salt Lake City – or slow it down if it goes the other way. As KCPW’s Jessica Gail reports, council members on both sides of the aisle are skeptical about using taxpayer dollars to hire a consultant for the project.
