Lee: Don’t Bully Supreme Court on Health Care Law Ruling

But a Northern Utah-based startup seems to have found a more accurate way to keep track of which candidate is poised to win an election after analyzing more than 90 primary races. Josh Light is a co-founder and CEO of PoliticIt, based in Logan, which tracks a candidate’s digital influence online.

Disease Caused by Rodent Exposure Kills Two Utahns

Two adult Utahns have died in the past month from Hantavirus infection, which leads to a deadly lung disease. And that comes as a surprise to the Utah Department of Health. Epidemiologist JoDee Baker says Utah typically only sees one Hantavirus case per year, and the fatality rate is about 32 percent.

Former Republican State Senator Dan Liljenquist was counting on a strong showing in the GOP caucus meetings this spring to knock off six-term Senator Orrin Hatch this election year. But Hatch got his people out to support him, setting the challenger back a bit. Still, Liljenquist managed to secure enough votes to put Hatch in his first primary election since 1976.

Salt Lake City Considers Off-Leash Dog Tag Program

Salt Lake City leaders are considering an off-leash dog tag program to increase revenue for maintaining off-leash dog areas and developing new ones. Art Raymond, spokesman for Mayor Ralph Becker, says the goal is to recognize the growing use of off-leash dog parks and responsibly expand those opportunities.
