Our Community Calendar is a volunteer-run resource offered to all qualified nonprofits. Community Calendar events are highlighted live, on-air throughout the day on KCPW. Featured events are chosen at random. You will also find all current Community Calendar events listed here at kcpw.org.
The Community Calendar also has a physical home. Following the criteria listed below, mail or bring professional materials (no handwritten signs please) promoting your event to the KCPW studios at 210 East 400 South, Suite 10, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. We’ll happily hang them in our window for all Library Square traffic to see.
To submit an event to the Community Calendar, the event must meet the following criteria:
- The event must take place in Utah.
- The organization promoting the event must be a qualified 501(c)(3) charity or political subdivision.
- The event cannot promote a religious organization or individual.
If your event meets these criteria, click “Post Your Event” below. Include your contact information in case we have any questions. Otherwise, your event may not get published.
We encourage you to make the most of your post by adding a featured image and links to your organization. Utilize the provided field boxes (i.e. location, ticket information) to display information as accurately and quickly as possible.
Please do not submit duplicate postings for the same event. If you are posting a class or workshop that requires registration, list just the first instance in the date and time, and include the details for subsequent classes in the description.

The Motown Era & More Tribute Show brings you the very best of the Motown era, before and beyond. Beginning with the pioneers of soul, such as Nina Simone, Ray Charles, and Aretha Franklin, this tribute is a time capsule showcasing The Temptations, The Supremes, The Four Tops, The Spinners, Frankie Valli, Marvin Gaye, and Stevie Wonder. Then we explore Motown’s move into the disco era with Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor, all heading toward an all-star finale. Come ready to let the sounds of soul wash over you, while your eyes are dazzled by the costumes and choreography that made Motown the epitome of entertainment in the 60s. When one thinks of South Los Angeles, what comes to mind is gangs, drugs, liquor stores, abandoned buildings and vacant lots. The last thing that you would expect to find is a beautiful garden sprouting up through the concrete, coloring the urban landscape. As part of an urban gardening movement taking root in South LA, people are planting to transform their neighborhoods and are changing their own lives in the process. Calling for people to put down their guns and pick up their shovels, these “gangster gardeners” are creating an oasis in the middle of one of the most notoriously dangerous places in America.

Troublemakers unearths the history of land art in the tumultuous late 1960s and early 1970s. The film features a cadre of renegade New York artists that sought to transcend the limitations of painting and sculpture by producing earthworks on a monumental scale in the desolate desert spaces of the American southwest. Today these works remain impressive not only for the sheer audacity of their makers but also for their out-sized ambitions to break free from traditional norms. As the film makes clear, in making works that can never be possessed as an object in a gallery, these troublemakers stand in marked contrast to the hyper-speculative contemporary art world of today.

Filmed over the course of six weeks in the summer of 1969, just one hundred miles south of Woodstock, the footage was largely forgotten–until now. Join Wasatch Community Gardens and Camp K for a week of adventure! Spend the mornings at Camp Kostopulos where campers will participate in camp activities such as ropes courses, games, swimming, and hiking while exploring the fascinating Utah foothills and Emigration Canyon ecosystem. Afternoons will be at WCG’s Campus learning about the science of growing, preparing, and eating healthy foods as a member of the garden ecosystem. Drop off at Camp Kostopulos in the morning (4180 Emigration Canyon Rd) and pick up at WCG’s Campus in the afternoon (629 E 800 S). Transportation between sites is provided by Camp Kostopulos.
What can we learn from the plants and animals around us?? Spend mornings at Wasatch Community Gardens exploring the world of bugs, bees, and other garden-dwelling critters. Afternoons will be at Camp Kostopulos where they’ll explore the Utah foothills and the beautiful Emigration Canyon, participate in exciting outdoor experiences, along with hiking, fishing, swimming, and bird and plant observation. The public is invited to join Craft Lake City for a free virtual Lunch & Learn event on Wed., July 13, 2022 at noon MST. Virtual attendees will have the opportunity to share ideas and ask questions about the new public art exhibition in downtown Salt Lake City, while learning about the artistic vision behind some of the works in this curation project as well as the mission statement behind Save Our Great Salt Lake.

On view from July through September 2022, Celebration of the Hand: Save Our Great Salt Lake highlights work by 14 Utah-based visual artists while raising awareness about local ecological issues surrounding our city’s namesake. Each Great Salt Lake inspired art piece is printed and installed in large 4’ x 8’ streetside frames in the downtown Salt Lake City area, giving passersby the opportunity to engage with the artwork while learning about environmental stewardship. This exhibition features a range of impactful large-format visual art depicting a variety of native species of birds, brine shrimp, bison, vegetation, & more whose existence is threatened by the degradation of the Great Salt Lake. In spotlighting a range of different Utah artists for this exhibition, the scope of this project includes work by local illustrators, photographers, animation artists, & multimedia artists. Displayed in 14 frames along Broadway (300 S) between 200 W and 200 E, Celebration of the Hand: Save Our Great Salt Lake features local artwork that encourages viewers to learn about the rapidly drying lakebed & engage with ideas that matter.
We are bringing our popular Water Trivia outdoors at the Three Creeks Confluence! This event combines water-themed education with fun, friendly competition for a watershed cause. Teams test their Wasatch water knowledge in ten trivia questions and a final wager on topics ranging from global water systems to local hydrology.
If you plan to play, please register prior to the event and arrive early to get settled. Trivia will begin at 7P. Registration is not required if you do not plan to play. Everyone is welcome! Each participant will receive a beer ticket and addition brews will be available for purchase courtesy of Epic Brewing. A salsa bar will be provided by Salsa Del Diablo. All participants will be entered into an opportunity drawing to win awesome prizes from Deer Valley, Flowfold, Made by Fell, Millcreek Coffee Roasters, Ritual Chocolate, and more!

Filmed over the course of six weeks in the summer of 1969, just one hundred miles south of Woodstock, the footage was largely forgotten–until now.
