Davis School District Going to Court Over Library Book

The American Civil Liberties Union of Utah is taking the Davis School District to court over a library book. The ACLU filed the suit on behalf of a Kaysville parent who says her children’s rights were violated when the school district decided to remove a book about lesbian mothers from the shelves of their elementary school’s library. KCPW’s Jessica Gail reports on what attorneys for the ACLU and the State Office of Education have to say about the case.

Deputy Superintendent Picked to Succeed Shumway

The next leader of Utah’s public schools has been chosen. Monday, the State Board of Education voted unanimously to hire Martell Menlove, who is currently deputy superintendent, as the new superintendent of public instruction. Menlove says he feels his career path over the past 35 years has prepared him for this position.
