Mullen Looks Forward to Leading Rape Recovery Center in Temporary Assignment

Longtime Utah journalist Holly Mullen’s career path has taken a new turn. The former Salt Lake Tribune columnist, City Weekly editor and political candidate has accepted a temporary, six-month assignment as interim executive director of the Rape Recovery Center in Salt Lake City, which provides crisis intervention, therapy and advocacy. Mullen takes on the role after serving on the center’s board and following the departure of former executive director Heather Stringfellow. Granite Schools Try Vegetarian Lunches

Utah’s largest school district has gone meatless every Monday during October as part of an initiative to introduce kids to more diverse diets. The decision in Granite School District was made in concert with First Lady Michelle Obama’s healthy eating campaign, Let’s Move! As KCPW’s Whittney Evans reports, the school district says the idea is to introduce new dishes and healthy alternatives to meat, rather than encourage kids to be vegetarian.
