After a year of campaigning, Democrat Ben McAdams walked away the winner of the Salt Lake County Mayoral race last night. McAdams and his opponent, former Salt Lake County Councilman Mark Crockett, were neck and neck in the polls up until Election Day and as KCPW’s Jessica Gail reports, McAdams says campaigning right up to the very end was one key to victory.
Republican Governor Gary Herbert will continue to lead the state. Herbert won his race against Army General Peter Cooke by a margin of more than two-to-one and earned his first full term in office.
With the final count coming in just after midnight, a lead of one percent or a little over 2,800 votes gave Democrat Jim Matheson the win over Saratoga Springs Mayor and Republican favorite Mia Love in the race for Utah’s 4th U.S. House District.
